SERVICE DOG TUNE UPS & TRAINING
There are three types of training that could fit underneath this category. Each requires specific skills and training. Take a look and see what type your dog would fall under.
Emotional Support Dog
An emotional support dog can live with their human in housing that otherwise does not allow pets. Documentation by licensed professional is required. They do not have a right to public access. These dogs need basic training to “be a good dog neighbor” and not disrupt any of the other tenants.
Service Dog
Service dogs are individually trained to assist someone with a disability. This could include alerting a diabetic to watch their blood sugar level, alerting someone hard of hearing when alarms go off, or helping the blind. It is vital that they are impeccably trained. Since they have a right to public access with their human (meaning they can go anywhere with their human) they need to have outstanding dog behavior.
Therapy Dog
A therapy dog, along with their owner, visit hospitals, nursing homes, etc to uplift and comfort people in difficult life circumstances. These types of dogs also need to have impeccable behavior since they will be in fragile environments with potentially ill people. A therapy dog needs special certification. Susan can train them to meet the qualifications for any of the certification options you desire. Talk to her if you are unsure what the certification options are. These dogs do not have a right to public access.
